FDA 510(k) clearance means the manufacturer demonstrated their device is substantially equivalent to a predicate device already on the market. It is a safety determination, not an efficacy endorsement. Consumer LED masks fall in this category — when they hold a K-number at all.
FDA approval, by contrast, applies to Class III devices (implants, life-supporting equipment) and to drugs. It requires premarket clinical-trial evidence. No consumer red-light mask is "FDA approved" — any brand using that phrase is misclaiming.

Approval requires a separate, more rigorous PMA pathway and consumer LED masks do not have it.
Which wavelengths actually matter?
633 nm and 660 nm are the canonical red wavelengths for collagen stimulation; 830 nm and 880 nm are the near-infrared that reaches deeper tissue. 415 nm blue targets acne.
